Criminal Justice Authority
The Authority regularly publishes or supports publication of criminal justice research and evaluation reports and bulletins, crime prevention brochures, technical manuals, data guides, statistical profiles, annual reports, and criminal justice periodicals.
Illinois Department of Corrections
The mission of the Department of Corrections is to protect the public from criminal offenders through a system of incarceration and supervision which securely segregates offenders from society, assures offenders of their constitutional rights and maintains programs to enhance the success of offenders' reentry into society.
Department of Emergency Management
To protect the State of illinois through integrated approaches of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. To prepare for, respond to, mitigate against, and recover from emergencies and disasters, or acts of terrorism.
Illinois Prisoner Review Board
The Illinois Prisoner Review Board's mission is to function under statutory authority as a quasi-judicial body with a primary focus on public safety.
It further acts as a checks and balances on other state and local institutions. The Board imposes release conditions for incarcerated individuals who are exiting penal facilities, revokes and restores good conduct credits from inmates, and conducts hearings to determine whether parolees have violated conditions of parole. Also, it notifies victims and their families when an inmate is about to be released from custody.
Finally, the Board makes confidential recommendations to the Governor relative to clemency petitions.
