Pritchard Named Legislator of the Year by Fire Protection Districts
In recognition for his continued support of fire service issues, State Representative Bob Pritchard (R-Hinckley) was named 2010 Legislator of the Year by the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts (IAFPD). Pritchard was honored for his continued leadership of bills important to fire districts, as well as being a charter member of the Legislative Fire Caucus.
"I consider it a privilege to represent those responsible for providing emergency services and fire protection," said Pritchard. "They are brave and dedicated individuals who put their lives on the line to help those in need. Every community is different and the challenges of a volunteer department vary greatly from one with full-time staff. I enjoy working with each district and understanding their needs. My greatest satisfaction over the past few years has been supporting legislation creating revolving state loans to department so they can upgrade their equipment, vehicles and facilities."
Other winners this year include: Representative John Bradley (D-Marion) and Senator A.J. Wilhelmi (D-Joliet). The Legislator of the Year recipients will have their names placed on the Fire Service Memorial outside the State Capitol, Springfield.
Pritchard was also recently named 2010 Outstanding Legislator by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA).
